Ace Norton (yes, that’s his real name) is an Asian American artist and filmmaker born and raised in Venice, California. Ace creates visuals on a variety of media platforms including music video, advertising, fashion, and film. He also draws, sculpts and is frequently commissioned for his installation and photography work.

A third-generation filmmaker, Ace grew up immersed in the world of cinema. From a young age, he was captivated by the art of storytelling through film, spending countless hours experimenting with cameras and editing. By the time he reached high school, his passion for filmmaking had translated into a substantial body of work- having written and directed dozens of award winning short films.

He attended the University of Southern California's prestigious film production program, where he refined his craft and built a network of talented peers. Shortly after graduation, Ace co-founded Commondeer Films, a small production company, with several close film school friends. His directing talents quickly caught the industry's attention, resulting in his signing with renowned production companies globally, including Partizan, Prettybird, Solab, and JOJX.

Since then, Ace has spent nearly two decades directing and shooting for some of the biggest brands in fashion, music, and advertising worldwide. His work has taken him across the globe, crafting compelling visual narratives that resonate with global audiences. Ace's extensive portfolio includes high-profile campaigns for brands such as Lexus, Coca-Cola, Adidas, Gucci, Samsung, Old Spice, Nissan, Gap, Mercedes, Cadillac, La Mer, Dolby, Old Navy, and Vans. In the world of music videos, he has directed for renowned artists like Foster the People, Jennifer Lopez, Death Cab for Cutie, Scissor Sisters, Norah Jones, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco, Regina Spektor, Aesop Rock, and Sebastien Tellier.  Ace’s work has been featured in the L.A. Times, The Huffington Post, Nowness, Nylon, Interview, Anthem, Boards, Promo magazine and numerous others.  Highsnobiety regarded him as one of the "Best 10 Directors Working Today".  He won Best Film and Best Director at the Milan Fashion Film Festival as well of a slew of others at Berlin and La Jolla. He was nominated for “Director of the Year” at the MVPA for his video “Hustler,” by Simian Mobile Disco. This also won “Video of the Year” at the ViMus Music Video Awards and is listed as one of the “Top 100 Music Videos of All Time” by NME.  His work for Death Cab for Cutie was nominated for a Grammy. His films and videos have also been shown at the Los Angeles Film Festival, SXSW, and festivals in Berlin, Venice, Japan, and England. Ace has served as the president of the jury at the Off Film Festival in Venice, Italy, and has been a keynote speaker at LAMVF and in Berlin. Outside of his professional achievements, Ace enjoys surfing, cooking, and traveling the world.
